Electrical Designer - Industrial & Commercial Projects
An established engineering firm is looking for an Electrical Designer to support the design and development of power distribution and control/instrumentation cabling for industrial and commercial projects. This position involves creating electrical panel schedules, cable and conduit layouts, grounding plans, schematic and wiring diagrams, and conduit/cable tray designs.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or licensed electrician.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and controls design for industrial and commercial applications.
- Hands-on experience with low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA-70).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for design work.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Create and revise electrical single-line diagrams, sketches, material lists, panel schedules, wiring schematics, conduit/cable tray layouts, and termination diagrams.
- Conduct on-site assessments of electrical systems, including switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), power distribution units, control rooms, and manufacturing equipment at client locations (both in-state and out-of-state).
- Determine appropriate cable and conduit sizes and material specifications for power and instrumentation systems.
- Provide support during construction phases, including reviewing contractor and vendor submissions.
- Adapt to project deadlines by working additional hours as necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to manage client expectations, project budgets, and schedules effectively.
