Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in the design of electrical systems for healthcare facilities. You will be responsible for leading electrical design efforts on various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, and working closely with other engineers, architects, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design and planning of healthcare projects, including hospitals, medical offices, and other healthcare facilities.
- Develop electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems designs for healthcare environments.
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other team members to ensure that electrical designs integrate seamlessly into overall project plans.
- Utilize Revit and AutoCAD to develop electrical layouts, schematics, and detailed construction drawings.
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and coordination studies to ensure efficient and compliant designs.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and codes to ensure all electrical designs meet local, state, and national standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections during construction phases to ensure quality, adherence to design, and timely resolution of issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on project tasks and technical aspects of electrical design.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project updates.
- Maintain project schedules and budgets to meet deadlines and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8-15 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on healthcare facilities preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA, and healthcare-specific regulations.
- Experience designing electrical systems for healthcare environments, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and team members.
- PE license not required, but a plus.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and integrated project delivery methods.
- Previous experience with local healthcare clients in the Chicago area.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy-efficient design strategies.
