Overview:
We are assisting our client in expanding their presence in the Taiwan market and are seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Lead. This role will be responsible for executing the market entry and growth strategy, identifying and securing viable projects, and driving business development efforts. Reporting directly to the Director, Taiwan Market, with a functional reporting line to the Associate Director, Business Development & Corporate Energy Solutions - Taiwan & SEA Markets, this position plays a crucial role in establishing and growing our client's footprint in Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead business and project development efforts in Taiwan by identifying and securing project pipelines, evaluating feasibility, and prioritizing investments.
Source and analyze prospective project opportunities, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and securing development rights for viable projects.
Conduct in-depth analysis covering technical, commercial, policy, and market dynamics to support investment proposals for both internal management and external authorities.
Negotiate and finalize project development agreements with key stakeholders, including local government entities, while ensuring alignment with commercial and legal standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure investment proposals meet corporate standards and conduct due diligence for M&A transactions and JV opportunities, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
Develop and execute corporate energy transaction strategies, negotiating and securing sales contracts with corporate energy buyers in coordination with the Central BD/CES team.
Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, policy changes, market trends, and emerging technologies to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Assess project risks, costs, and financial implications to optimize budget allocation and build a robust project portfolio in Taiwan.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the energy sector, infrastructure projects, direct investment, or management consulting.
Strong knowledge of the power/energy industry and infrastructure projects, with expertise in commercial issues, risk assessment, and policy frameworks within the Taiwan market. International power sector experience is a plus.
Proven track record in government engagement and lobbying to support business development initiatives.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to provide strategic analysis and insights.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively, demonstrating independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
Financial analysis and modeling experience is advantageous.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of working independently in a cross-functional team environment.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
