Transportation Schematics Lead
Location: Austin, Dallas, or Houston, TX
Job Summary: The Transportation Schematics Lead is responsible for leading the development and management of schematic designs for transportation projects, including highways and bridges. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with DOT standards, and overseeing the schematic design process from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of schematic designs for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with TxDOT standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documents for clarity and constructability.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and coordinate with public agencies, contractors, and consultants.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of schematic design documents and reports.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the design process.
- Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Maintain effective communication with clients and leverage project experience to secure future work.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, statements of qualifications (SOQs), and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on schematic design.
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
