A Leading Underground Utilities and Renewable Energy EPC is looking to bring on a Safety Manager for their upcoming projects in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic.
The company is looking for a dedicated full-time Safety Manager to join our team in Maryland. This role is tasked with overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of safety and occupational health programs for personnel, equipment, materials, and work environments. The Safety Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field teams to promote and maintain a safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities - Safety Manager:
- Conduct and manage safety orientations for new employees.
- Schedule, lead, and document safety meetings and on-site safety audits.
- Support the creation and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, laws, and codes.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Job Hazard Analyses and ensure their completion and review.
- Assist the Safety Department with OSHA record keeping and reporting requirements.
- Monitor potentially hazardous activities and intervene when necessary to prevent harm to personnel or equipment.
- Provide technical safety guidance and training to supervisors and employees.
- Encourage proactive safety practices through observation, analysis, and feedback.
- Integrate safety goals and policies into project plans.
- Monitor adherence to safety protocols, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with executives, managers, and field safety coordinators to create and implement annual safety plans.
- Investigate incidents, document findings, share lessons learned, and track corrective actions.
Qualifications of Safety Manager:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Demonstrated skills in communication, organization, presentation, and analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
- Possession of at least one of the following certifications: CSP, SMS, ASP, GSP, TSP, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, or CIT.
- 3-5 years of field construction safety experience minimum.
Work Environment - Safety Manager:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (approximately 75% of the time).
- Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing of ladders or stairs.
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and vendors.
