Job Description:
The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and designing the installation of large-scale security system projects. These projects will include access control, video surveillance, digital video storage, intrusion detection, command and control systems, and other physical security technologies. The role requires proficiency in developing and preparing construction drawings and specifications, as well as experience in managing contractors, overseeing installation work, conducting testing, providing training, and ensuring successful project closeout.
Requirements & Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of modern security technologies and applications used in major security projects.
Ability to create detailed engineering design documents, including drawings, specifications, and master plan reports.
Experience in developing accurate construction estimates and budgets.
Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects and engineers from other fields (mechanical, civil, etc.).
Capability to oversee the construction phase, ensuring proper installation and implementation in collaboration with contractors and integrators.
Strong ability to manage multiple projects independently while adapting to shifting priorities and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Experience:
Applicants should have prior experience in engineering design for physical security systems. The following qualifications are required:
10+ years of experience in security and low-voltage system design.
Proficiency in developing construction documents, including drawings and CSI format specifications.
Expertise in low-voltage and security systems engineering, including design and calculations.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Preferred (but not required) qualifications include:
Experience in aviation or airport security projects.
ASIS (PSP) Certification.
BICSI RCDD Certification.
Background in networking and IT.
Professional Engineering Registration.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience/technical degree.
Travel:
Approximately 25% regional travel is expected.
Security Clearance:
This role involves handling Secure Sensitive Information (SSI) as governed by federal regulations. Candidates must be able to pass background checks required for obtaining security credentials at various facilities.
