Position Overview: As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and implementing traffic systems and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, utilizing your extensive knowledge and experience to solve complex traffic engineering challenges. This position requires a forward-thinking individual who can lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage traffic engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Develop and review traffic impact studies, traffic signal designs, and roadway safety audits.
- Conduct traffic analysis using simulation software and other advanced tools to optimize traffic flow and minimize congestion.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate with public agencies, clients, and other stakeholders to address traffic-related concerns and ensure project alignment with community needs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in traffic engineering.
- Represent the company at public meetings, hearings, and other forums as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in traffic engineering
- Proficiency in traffic analysis software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of MUTCD, AASHTO, and other relevant standards and guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Experience in public speaking and presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.
