Role & Responsibilities:
- Conduct fieldwork to assess and document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems caused by natural events (such as wind, water, fire, and seismic activity) as well as human-induced factors (including design and construction errors or omissions). Natural disasters may encompass significant events like regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.
- Leverage knowledge of building codes, structural behavior, and construction practices to recommend repair scopes and conduct cause-and-origin analyses.
- Review design drawings and relevant documentation.
- Maintain communication with clients, collaborate with code officials and contractors, and produce comprehensive reports.
- Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Foster and nurture client relationships.
- Availability to travel on short notice as required.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 7+ years experience in technical design, specialising in the structural design of steel, concrete, wood, mas, and other materials.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national building and construction regulations, including ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, among others.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, concepts, and practices.
- Experience with diverse construction types is advantageous.
- Relevant field experience that demonstrates the application of engineering principles in real-world scenarios.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Background in providing litigation support, including serving as an expert witness in depositions, trials, mediation's, and arbitration proceedings.
