Location: Flexible, hybrid-friendly (preference for CA, CO, ID, OR, TX, UT, WA). Company hiring has multiple office location options out of all the states listed.
Responsibilities:
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in designing high-voltage substations and collection systems.
- Develop accurate project deliverables: diagrams, layouts, protection schemes.
- Ensure designs meet standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, NESC) and client requirements.
- Conduct system studies: load flow, short circuit, arc flash, transient analysis.
- Guide team from preliminary design to IFC status.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on scope, milestones, deliverables.
- Act as technical point of contact for clients, contractors, stakeholders.
- Review and approve design packages for accuracy and constructibility.
- Coordinate with engineers to integrate all design aspects.
- Support construction phase: respond to RFIs, assist with inspections, support testing and commissioning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
- PE license preferred or eligibility.
- 5+ years in high-voltage substation design.
- Experience with system studies, relay protection, project execution.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- 10+ years industry experience.
- Experience as Owner's Engineer or Engineer of Record for renewable projects.
- Expertise in renewable energy project delivery.
