Our client is a nationally based engineering & services provider for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy systems with a focus on the East Coast to Mid-West utility market (though they do have exciting plans of expanding a local presence out West in the future - stay tuned!)
The company is looking for an self-starting individual who's excited by working on power transmission & distribution projects but is also ready to take initiative/focus on their renewable energy solar & battery energy storage projects. This is an exciting opportunity if you're looking (or missing) more of a mid-size engineering company culture that offers the same flexibility/work-life balance of utility firms but also will allow you or work on an ongoing diversified portfolio of projects and clients.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using ETAP (similar studies software will be considered as well if other criteria is met/candidates are open to learning ETAP) and experience with protection & control/relay settings for substation/power systems projects.
This is a full-time direct hire and opportunity to sit 100% remote for the right candidate in EST or CST time zone preferably (MST ok for willingness to work CST/EST hours for some meetings). If interested in being near an office - we have 5 different office locations that can be shared upon inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support substation projects for wind, solar, battery energy storage and stand-alone electrical work.
- Perform electrical power system studies and provide support with protective relaying/settings projects.
- Join dynamic smaller-mid-size engineering team where you'll demonstrate your interest in learning and ability to be a self-starter with various software applications & renewable technologies.
- Support decision makers when it comes to design methods, philosophies, modeling, client recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of engineering experience - minimum of 3-4 years US based experience.
- In addition to power system studies, focus/technical experience in one of these following specialties: protection & control, protective relaying/relay settings, SCADA, commissioning/field support, substation engineering, NERC compliance.
- Must be strong and interested in communicating with others.
- Four-year bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree.
- PE License not required but plus.
- Must be currently living in the United States.
Preferred & Added Bonus:
- Located in Southeast. Candidates in CST and EST will be considered though.
- Previous renewable experience is a plus but not required.
- Previous consulting experience huge plus, or experience working for several utilities/demonstrated understanding of different standards.
