A renewable energy company focused on wind energy development in the Northeast is seeking to fill a Development Manager role. This full-time position will primarily involve managing various aspects of wind energy project development, from origination through project final investment decision (FID), and providing support through financing, construction, and commissioning phases. The role reports to the Director of Development and is preferably based in upstate New York, with flexibility for candidates in the U.S. Northeast.
Primary Responsibilities
The Development Manager will work with internal teams and external consultants, covering tasks such as:
Site Origination: Managing new project sitefinding programs, minimizing risks related to interconnection, wind resources, real estate, and environmental impact.
Land Acquisition: Negotiating land contracts, working with land agents, and maintaining knowledge of New York State's real property processes.
Electrical Interconnection: Overseeing the interconnection process for transmission-level renewable energy projects, maintaining risk assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Energy Resource Assessment: Coordinating assessments and managing installations of wind measurement equipment such as LiDARs, SoDARs, and meteorological masts.
Permitting Support: Assisting with permitting applications, conducting field verifications, and working with various stakeholders during project design stages.
Technical & Market Activities: Analyzing power markets, submitting contract proposals, optimizing project design, and assisting in pre-construction activities.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- At least 4 years of experience in renewable energy development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with renewable energy projects in the region is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and valid driver's license.
