We are on the lookout for an experienced and self-driven professional in solar and storage project development to oversee our array of community solar and other distributed energy generation projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas. We are set on expanding and focusing on creating distributed solar and storage projects that we aim to own long-term. Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the development of distributed generation assets (solar and storage) from origination to completion, including ongoing relationship management during construction.
- Assist the Project Development team in project forecasting, market insights, and executing market strategies.
- Identify and assess new sites for solar feasibility through site origination and landowner engagement using GIS tools.
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and execution of site control agreements such as leases and purchase options.
- Arrange site visits and engage with local stakeholders, emphasizing in-person interactions for stronger bonds.
- Keep abreast of eligible project incentives, revenue streams, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead the permitting process and secure necessary approvals at various governmental levels.
- Coordinate with legal, environmental, and engineering consultants to keep project timelines and budgets on track.
- Manage utility interconnection applications, ensuring all milestones and payments are timely.
- Prepare and negotiate local decommissioning and tax agreements.
- Maintain strong relationships with property owners, consultants, host communities, and other project stakeholders.
- Represent the company in presentations to local boards, community stakeholders, and members to solidify long-term partnerships.
- Develop sales materials such as presentations and proposals to support project development.
- Collaborate with co-development partners to ensure efficient project development and smooth transitions.
- Regularly align with senior leadership, Business Development, and other departments to meet organizational goals.
- Support finance, engineering, and construction teams in achieving successful project financing and execution.
- Engage with industry stakeholders and working groups to promote development goals in key markets.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of experience in the solar/storage industry, with a proven record in distributed generation project development and stakeholder engagement.
- Direct involvement in market-level development, including interconnection, permitting, and community negotiations.
- Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple tasks and make sound decisions in dynamic situations.
- Proficiency in GIS and project planning software (e.g., Smartsheets, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Extensive knowledge of solar and energy storage technologies.
- A collaborative problem-solver with excellent teamwork skills.
- Outstanding oral and written communication abilities, including public speaking and presentations.
- Ability to work in-office and remotely, demonstrating high self-motivation and self-direction.
- Willingness to travel as required (approximately 40% of the time).
- A college degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Planning, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
