Position Overview:
As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for performing land surveys, providing technical oversight, and ensuring accuracy in all aspects of survey data collection and analysis. You will work on a variety of transportation-focused projects, including roadways, highways, bridges, and other infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land surveying and a passion for contributing to transportation engineering solutions in Minnesota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform land surveys for transportation projects, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
- Analyze survey data, interpret plans, and prepare legal descriptions for property surveys and right-of-way determinations.
- Review and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Prepare survey reports and documentation for project design teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior survey staff and ensure accurate field data collection.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other professionals on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new surveying techniques and technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure in Minnesota.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying, with a focus on transportation-related projects.
- In-depth knowledge of surveying equipment, software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble), and technologies used in modern land surveying.
- Strong understanding of Minnesota state survey laws, regulations, and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a leadership or project management role.
- Experience with GIS, LiDAR, or other advanced survey technologies.
- Knowledge of transportation design and construction processes.
