The Senior Network Planning Engineer for Water & Wastewater will lead the planning, design, and optimization of water and wastewater networks. This role involves ensuring efficient, sustainable, and reliable water distribution and wastewater management systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hydraulic modeling, system analysis, and project management, with a focus on long-term strategic planning and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement long-term network planning strategies to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of water and wastewater systems.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and feasibility studies for system expansions and upgrades.
Design and Analysis:
- Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis of water distribution and wastewater collection systems using industry-standard software.
- Design system improvements, including pipe networks, pumping stations, and treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Conduct capacity analysis and identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement.
Project Management:
- Lead and manage multiple projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil engineers, environmental scientists, and construction managers.
- Prepare detailed project reports, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all designs and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and health and safety standards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards to ensure all projects meet current requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with government agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders to gain approvals and support for network plans and projects.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients, stakeholders, and junior engineers.
Innovation and Sustainability:
- Promote the use of innovative technologies and sustainable practices in the planning and design of water and wastewater systems.
- Identify opportunities for the integration of green infrastructure and energy-efficient solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPEng/RPEV/RPEQ) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in water and wastewater network planning and design.
- Proven experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterGems, InfoWorks, WaterCAD).
- Strong background in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams.
