Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and engineering efforts across water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role requires deep technical expertise in water treatment, pumping stations, and distribution systems, along with strong leadership skills to drive innovative and sustainable solutions. The ideal candidate will provide strategic technical guidance, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for municipal and industrial water projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical engineering design and development of water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring best practices and industry standards are met.
Oversee the development of mechanical systems, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, analysis, and testing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, process, and electrical engineers, to ensure integrated project solutions.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost evaluations for mechanical components and systems in water and wastewater projects.
Drive innovation by staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainability practices in the water sector.
Manage and optimize project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Provide technical support to business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical engineering challenges in real-world water and wastewater applications.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong preference in CPEng or RPEQ professionals
Proven track record in designing, developing, and implementing complex mechanical systems for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to water and wastewater systems.
Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in municipal and industrial water projects is highly desirable.
