Job Description: As a Principal Environmental Engineer, this individual will spearhead and assist in intricate environmental restoration initiatives - starting with drafting proposals, progressing to the evaluation of remediation, designing the engineering plan, overseeing field operations, and culminating in report submissions and interactions with clients. This individual will also provide mentoring and support to junior engineering staff and share their expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and/or assisting teams with intricate environmental assessments, design planning, field operations execution, producing reports, and liaising with clients.
- Prioritize tasks effectively utilizing sound time-management principles. The candidate should be adaptable, demonstrate superior verbal and written communication abilities, and have a keen sense of initiative and proficient time management.
- Serve as the primary engineer for client proposals, project estimations, and various costing endeavors.
- Evaluate designs, guidelines, and technical papers crafted by entry and mid-tier professionals.
- Provide guidance and training to entry and mid-tier colleagues on intricate environmental restoration processes.
- Undertake additional tasks as designated by the area engineering supervisor.
- Depending on the applicant, the role may also encompass Project Manager duties.
Qualifications:
- 15-20 years of work experience with a heavy emphasis on environmental consulting for the private sector.
- Professional licensure, such as Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG)
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline
- Extensive knowledge of groundwater, soil, and soil vapor characterization and remediation design and solutions
- Experience managing complex project sites that involve hazardous and other wastes
- Proven expertise in cost projection and bid creation, encompassing technical proposal drafting.
- Familiarity with initiating trial runs, engineering design fundamentals, setup, and building.
- Knowledge in the operation, maintenance & monitoring (OM&M) of environmental remediation systems, treatment methodologies, and enhancement.
- Knowledge of state and federal environmental cleanup regulations is preferred (e.g., TRRP, LPST Rules, and/or Railroad Commission of Texas Cleanup Rules, RCRA, and/or CERCLA).
