- Review plans, calculations, and specifications to ensure compliance with the latest ordinances, laws, and state building codes.
- Prepare plan review comment letters in accordance with municipal guidelines and SCA standards.
- Meet and confer with clients as needed (via phone, email, virtual meeting, or in-person) to clarify plan check comments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Professional Civil or Structural Engineer.
- ICC Certified Plans Examiner with comprehensive knowledge of International model building codes and standard construction methods.
- Ability to review all structural systems and additional building systems as needed (e.g., architectural, accessibility, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, and green/sustainability).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working for an engineering design firm or 2+ years as a Plan Check Engineer for a jurisdiction, providing design or plan check reviews for both commercial and residential projects.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and various plan review software such as BlueBeam (or similar AutoCAD-based products).
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college
