Job Title: Municipal Department Manager
Location: Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids
Position Overview: The Municipal Department Manager will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects. This role is essential for business development, project execution, client relations, and team leadership, driving the firm's success and growth in the Detroit area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to expand the municipal engineering practice in Detroit and surrounding areas.
- Project Management: Manage all phases of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, traffic systems, and public utilities, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance, and high-quality standards.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with municipal clients, including city councils, public works departments, and other local agencies.
- Business Development: Identify and secure new municipal project opportunities, lead proposal creation, and participate in interviews to win contracts.
- Technical Expertise: Provide oversight and guidance on complex municipal engineering projects, ensuring innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop a team of engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and technical excellence.
- Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, forecast revenue, and contribute to the division's profitability goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- 20+ years of experience in municipal engineering, including project management and leadership roles.
- Proven experience working with local government agencies and municipalities.
