Job Summary:
The Environmental Project Manager will oversee and manage a variety of environmental projects, including site assessments, remediation, compliance audits, and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in environmental project management, a strong understanding of environmental regulations, and excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be responsible for coordinating resources, managing client relationships, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead and manage multiple environmental projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Coordinate internal and external teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and fostering strong relationships. Provide regular updates and reports on project status, risks, and solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including environmental impact assessments, remediation efforts, and permitting requirements.
- Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources. Monitor costs and timelines and make adjustments as necessary to stay on track.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior project staff and subcontractors. Provide guidance on technical and regulatory issues and encourage continuous professional development.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise in areas such as site assessments, environmental remediation, environmental compliance, waste management, sustainability programs, and environmental monitoring.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks and challenges and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed project reports, including progress updates, regulatory compliance documentation, and final project deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local government agencies, regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, and environmental organizations to ensure project success and community buy-in.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, CHMM) is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing environmental projects, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Experience in site assessments, remediation, environmental compliance, sustainability programs, or related fields.
- Solid understanding of environmental regulations, including EPA standards, local ordinances, and industry best practices.
- Skills:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Smartsheet) and environmental data analysis tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD).
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or similar certifications preferred.
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Knowledge of environmental risk assessment and remediation processes is highly desirable.
