Job Title: MEP Designer/Engineer
Location: Washington DC-Baltimore area
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the Front-End Engineering process, overseeing the design deliverables for large-scale capital projects focused on energy solutions within the built environment.
- Manage both internal and external engineering teams to ensure project success.
- Track and report on project progress, including costs and schedules, to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Oversee drawing reviews, client interactions, and engineering model evaluations, along with conducting relevant calculations.
- Bring a passion for energy systems, energy efficiency, sustainability, and renewable energy. Experience with energy audits, cost estimation, and energy efficiency projects is essential.
- Work independently while mentoring junior engineers to meet deliverables on large projects or several smaller projects running concurrently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of HVAC and Plumbing systems for industrial and commercial applications.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in the following areas:
- HVAC System Design: Cooling towers, chillers, fans, boilers, pumps, AHUs, heat pumps, humidification systems, hot water heaters, etc.
- Controls System Design: Building automation system control diagrams, points lists, and sequence of operations.
- Energy Analysis: Conduct energy use predictions and efficiency measures using spreadsheet calculations or energy modeling software.
- Renewable and Alternative Energy Systems: Sizing and analyzing photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage, load-shifting strategies, and on-site generation systems like fuel cells, generators, or co-generation.
- Plumbing System Design: Experience designing plumbing systems including domestic hot/cold water lines and sanitary/waste lines.
- Strong knowledge of national codes and standards, including ICC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA.
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines and the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary design requirements.
- Willingness to travel to client sites for surveys.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supervising teams.
