A skilled Estimator is needed to develop budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost analyses for small to mid-sized construction projects. This role requires expertise in a specific trade and a strong understanding of industry pricing, material costs, and estimating practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate material take-offs and cost estimates.
- Utilize estimating software to compile detailed cost breakdowns and adjust quantities as necessary.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in project documents to ensure alignment with budget and scope.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and establish strong working relationships.
- Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and project scope requirements to develop comprehensive estimates.
- Assist in preparing bid packages, cost comparisons, and project status updates.
- Provide mentorship to junior estimators as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with estimating software and cost analysis tools.
- Knowledge of construction costs, materials, and pricing structures.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, ratios, and cost allocations.
- Familiarity with industry-specific estimating programs.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent trade school experience).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical construction estimating.
