Company Overview: Our is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the food and beverage manufacturing sector. They specialize in the design and manufacturing of Evaporator and Dryer equipment, catering to clients in the food, chemical, and agricultural industries. Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join their Design Group in Chicago, Illinois.
Responsibilities: As a key member of the Design Group, the Mechanical Designer will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the Lead Design Engineer to ensure robust mechanical designs for Evaporator and Dryer equipment.
- Overseeing detailed engineering of process equipment, from conceptual designs to intricate 3D modeling, culminating in 2D fabrication drawings.
- Playing a pivotal role in evolving, enhancing, and executing both new and established mechanical standards.
- Elaborating and communicating conceptual ideas effectively.
- Detail designing fabricated components.
- Preparing 3D models and Bill of Materials.
- Presenting fabrication requirements and details on 2D drawings.
- Maintaining and implementing design standards.
- Interacting with the Project Team to meet project requirements and specifications.
- Creating and understanding 2D drawings of general arrangements, process flow diagrams, and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Utilizing vendor-supplied drawings to complete assigned tasks.
- Performing other duties as assigned, including equipment specifications, special projects, site visits, etc.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Drafting and Design or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience in an engineering-related field.
- Experience with the design and fabrication of steel and stainless-steel process equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas comprehensively.
- Ability to work independently to complete assignments on time.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 2D.
- Experience with piping and piping software Autodesk Plant 3D.
- Familiarity with process equipment related to the food, chemical, or agricultural industry.
- Experience with pressure vessels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Willingness to travel to job sites or fabrication shops if required.
