A fast-growing, client-focused engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) to join its dynamic team. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while requiring occasional travel to project sites in Massachusetts for site investigations, meetings, and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management
- Oversee projects from initial proposal through design, bidding, construction, and final inspections.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring top-quality results.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to drive project success.
- Support publicly bid projects through bidding platforms like Biddocs.com and Project Dog.
Mechanical System Design & Engineering
- Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, chilled water, pneumatic, hydronic, and steam/boiler systems.
- Conduct system analysis, load calculations, and equipment selection.
- Develop and refine MEP/FP system designs using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
Construction Administration & Field Work
- Perform site investigations, inspections, and oversee mechanical system installations.
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction-phase support.
- Ensure project execution aligns with design intent and industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (applications without an active PE will not be considered).
- Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design for multidisciplinary projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and team interactions.
Preferred:
- Experience with Revit and BIM modeling.
- Background in mechanical system design for manufacturing, life sciences, clean rooms, or advanced technologies.
- Knowledge of refrigeration system design.
- Familiarity with publicly bid projects and related processes.
- Willingness to travel for project-related site visits and client meetings.
Work Schedule & Culture
- Standard work hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday).
- Primarily remote, with on-site meetings and visits as needed.
