Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Chicago Office Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days in-office, 3 days remote)
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Chicago office. This position focuses on designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems for building facilities and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing based on project requirements and applicable codes.
Prepare technical specifications, construction documents, and detailed design drawings using CAD and BIM software.
Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure integrated and effective design solutions.
Conduct field surveys, site inspections, and assessments to gather data and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Review contractor submittals, address RFIs, and support construction administration activities.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and design schedules.
Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and technologies to incorporate best practices in designs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in mechanical design, particularly in building systems or industrial projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load calculation software.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
