Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for carrying out engineering tasks related to the design of mechanical equipment and piping for process gases, pressure regulation and measurement, cryogenics, and/or compressed gas handling systems. The role requires ensuring technical expertise and strict compliance with current regulations, codes, and company policies.
Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to:
* Sizing and specifying piping systems and associated equipment, such as control valves, pressure vessels, and rotating machinery.
* Conducting heat transfer and heat balance calculations or simulations.
* Preparing or overseeing the creation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), piping drawings, isometric fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and general arrangement drawings using CADWorx.
* Inspecting incoming materials to verify they meet technical specifications.
* Providing technical guidance to mechanical engineers and designers on project-specific deliverables, including:
○ Leading technical reviews of equipment specifications, standards, drawings, and engineering calculations for assigned projects to ensure alignment with company guidelines, codes, standards, and project requirements.
○ Evaluating vendor material quotes, preparing technical assessments, and making recommendations to the Project Manager and Procurement team based on technical merit, price, and delivery.
* Participating in design review meetings with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Team, and Client to discuss project scope, design expectations, and performance, while addressing unforeseen challenges.
* Providing technical support to shop and construction teams during manufacturing and construction phases.
* Assisting in the commissioning of newly installed facilities by overseeing multi-disciplinary commissioning teams.
* Supporting business development by contributing to project scope definitions and preliminary designs.
Basic Qualifications:
* Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
* Proven experience in drafting and detailing 2D deliverable drawings.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner.
* Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and complete work within deadlines.
* Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on key objectives.
* Ability to build strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve goals.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
* 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical system design in the utility or power industry.
* Expertise in CADWorx Plant Professional, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar 3D piping software.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain a PE license within a year (support provided).
* Experience in Project Engineering or Project Management.
* Strong technical knowledge of design and construction codes and standards for natural gas and LNG facilities, including ASME B31.3 & B31.8, 49 CFR Parts 192 & 193, and NFPA 59A.
