About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Roadway Engineer to spearhead the design and delivery of roadway and transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, leadership abilities, and a passion for developing innovative and efficient infrastructure solutions. Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership:
- Lead the design and delivery of roadway projects, including new construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation efforts.
- Oversee all phases of project development, from conceptual design through final construction plans.
- Ensure compliance with project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Technical Expertise:
- Develop roadway design plans, specifications, and estimates using industry-standard tools.
- Perform horizontal and vertical alignment design, cross-section development, drainage design, and traffic control planning.
- Conduct engineering calculations and analyses in accordance with AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT standards.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for public meetings, client updates, and internal reviews.
- Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway engineering
Licenses & Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Texas PE preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other transportation-related tools.
- Strong understanding of roadway design principles, including ADA compliance, drainage, and safety standards.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local design standards and regulations (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD, TxDOT).
