Preconstruction Lead - Advanced Technology & Data Center Division

About the Role
As the Preconstruction Lead, you will oversee all aspects of preconstruction for a diverse range of digital infrastructure and mission-critical projects. This includes estimating, scheduling, constructability analysis, subcontractor engagement, and value management. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful transition from preconstruction to construction while driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence across the project lifecycle.
This role offers the unique opportunity to act as a key figure in shaping the business development and strategic growth of a fast-evolving division, serving as the second-in-command to the Data Center Division President.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Preconstruction Efforts: Oversee preconstruction activities for multiple projects, including conceptual and detailed estimating, scheduling, and constructability analysis.
- Business Development: Actively support early-stage business development efforts, meeting with prospective clients and fostering relationships with trade and teaming partners to drive strategic growth.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary preconstruction point of contact, working closely with owners, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Strategic Oversight: Guide design meetings and preconstruction reviews, ensuring that deliverables meet stakeholder requirements and align with project objectives.
- Contract and Risk Management: Review RFPs, contracts, and project documents to identify risks, scope requirements, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Team Leadership: Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality preconstruction services, ensuring seamless handover to construction teams.
- Innovative Solutions: Champion the use of alternative materials, systems, and methods to provide value engineering options and maintain budget alignment.
- Technology Integration: Utilize industry-leading estimating and quantity take-off software to streamline processes and enhance project accuracy.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or operations, with a proven track record in digital infrastructure, mission-critical, industrial or data center projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction science, architecture, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Expertise in Mechanical construction / preconstruction
- Deep knowledge of construction materials, methods, and systems, with a focus on mission-critical facilities.
- Expertise in cost control, value engineering, and preconstruction best practices.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across stakeholders.
- Proficiency in preconstruction and estimating software tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects from concept to construction.
