Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical expertise, leadership, and strategic guidance on projects focused on infrastructure development, renewable energy solutions, and capacity building. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize electrical systems that align with local needs and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the assessment, planning, design, and implementation of electrical engineering projects, including power distribution, renewable energy systems, and electrical infrastructure.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate existing systems, and develop tailored solutions.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to local professionals and partners to build capacity and knowledge transfer.
Ensure compliance with international standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
Conduct feasibility studies, prepare technical reports, and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to electrical systems and project execution.
Support the development of proposals, budgets, and project timelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, including project management and leadership roles.
Proven experience in renewable energy projects, rural electrification, and sustainable infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, IEEE) and safety codes.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across cultures.
Experience working with non-profit organizations, international development projects, or Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
Willingness to travel and work in diverse environments.
