Position Overview:
The Science & Technology Delegate for Asia will be based in Tokyo.
Key Activities:
- Screen information related to national plans in Science & Technology (S&T), identify key stakeholders, and engage with them through lab visits.
- Collaborate with leaders and business holders to assess potential value creation.
- Monitor specific domains, attend workshops, report findings, and conduct in-depth analyses in S&T, including publicly funded projects.
- Prepare monthly synthetic reports and specific reports on demand.
- Potentially initiate collaborations to accelerate technology development.
Content and Environment:
The job holder reports functionally to the Head of Strategic Anticipation in R&D. You will work closely with leaders and business holders in the operational branches. Developing solid trust, exchanging ideas, and forming partnerships with regional academia, NOCs, startups, industry, government, and society on priority topics are essential.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- PhD in Science & Technology.
- 10+ years of experience in R&D practice/management at globally recognized industry and/or public research organizations.
- Familiarity with the Japanese R&D/Innovation ecosystem, culture, challenges, opportunities, strategy, partnership mechanisms, and management.
- Extensive knowledge of the oil & gas industry and renewable sectors, including their evolution and challenges.
- Expertise in innovations such as low-carbon, mobility, digitalization, and decarbonization for the energy industry.
- Strong connections within the academic ecosystem, with the ability to identify and evaluate new technologies applicable to the company.
- Open-minded, with a strong interest in open innovation and a quick learner.
- Fluent in Japanese and English. Proficiency in Chinese and French is a plus.
