Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager, Energy Storage, plays a key role in developing opportunities for investment in grid-scale battery storage projects. This position involves sourcing and evaluating development and investment opportunities, as well as collaborating with various teams to ensure successful project execution.
Main Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate development and investment opportunities in battery storage, including independent development and joint venture approaches.
- Screen target opportunities to identify those that meet the target risk/return profile, growth/scale objectives, management quality, and environmental considerations.
- Screen, evaluate, and engage with business partners and vendors for BESS systems, software, etc.
- Manage land sourcing and grid connection applications to utilities with support from Origination and Technical departments.
- Collaborate with existing teams in the development process, including financial analysis, due diligence, sector analysis, local development, permitting, and grid connection.
- Negotiate transaction terms with counterparties.
- Prepare necessary documents to obtain internal approvals (e.g., Investment Committee) prior to making project investments.
- Functional Competencies:
- Experience in the renewable energy sector is beneficial but not required. Experience in industries such as real estate, energy, or financing is also welcomed.
- Experience in sales, business development, project development, cash flow modeling, or agriculture is a plus.
- Experience in acquiring large-scale land for logistics, roadside retail stores, factories, etc., is highly welcomed.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and collaboration skills.
