As an Industrial Hygienist at, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of workers and the environment by identifying and assessing potential health hazards in various industrial settings. You will be responsible for conducting thorough evaluations, implementing control measures, and educating personnel on best practices to minimize exposure to occupational hazards. This role combines technical expertise, data analysis, and excellent communication skills to ensure compliance with health and safety standards while optimizing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Hazard Identification: Conduct comprehensive assessments of industrial work environments to identify potential health hazards, such as chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic risks.
Exposure Monitoring: Implement various sampling and monitoring techniques to assess worker exposure to hazardous substances and physical stressors. Analyze data to determine compliance with occupational exposure limits.
Risk Evaluation: Assess the potential health effects associated with identified hazards and communicate the findings to management, recommending appropriate control measures.
Control Measures: Collaborate with engineering, operations, and management teams to develop and implement effective control measures, such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for employees, supervisors, and management regarding industrial hygiene practices, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations related to industrial hygiene and occupational health. Ensure the company's practices align with the latest standards.
Incident Response: Participate in incident investigations related to occupational health exposures and provide expertise in determining the root cause and implementing corrective actions.
Data Management: Maintain accurate and organized records of monitoring data, risk assessments, training sessions, and other relevant information.
Health and Safety Culture: Promote a strong health and safety culture within the organization by fostering awareness and participation in safety programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienist - CIH) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in conducting industrial hygiene assessments, exposure monitoring, and risk evaluations.
- Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with relevant monitoring equipment and data analysis tools.
