Position Overview: The company is seeking a skilled and experienced Grid Connection Manager to join their team. The Grid Connection Manager will play a critical role in managing the connection of renewable energy projects to the grid, ensuring efficient and timely grid integration while complying with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grid Connection Planning: Develop and implement grid connection strategies for renewable energy projects, including assessing grid capacity, identifying connection points, and securing grid access agreements with network operators.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing grid connection in New Zealand. Ensure that renewable energy projects comply with all applicable requirements and obtain necessary approvals from regulatory authorities.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain effective relationships with network operators, regulatory agencies, government officials, and other stakeholders involved in the grid connection process. Coordinate communication and collaboration to resolve issues and streamline project timelines.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct technical assessments of grid connection feasibility, including grid stability studies, power system modeling, and impact assessments. Identify potential grid integration challenges and propose mitigation measures to optimize project performance.
- Project Management: Oversee the grid connection process from initial planning through to energization, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to execute grid connection activities efficiently.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to grid connection, such as grid congestion, voltage fluctuations, and interconnection delays. Develop contingency plans and strategies to minimize project disruptions and maximize reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of grid connection activities, including agreements, permits, technical reports, and correspondence. Prepare regular progress reports and updates for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in grid connection or power system engineering, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of New Zealand's electricity market, grid infrastructure, and regulatory framework.
- Strong technical proficiency in grid connection design, power system analysis, and renewable energy technologies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for grid integration of renewable energy projects.
