Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Project Manager to join the team in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing geotechnical projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgetary constraints, and project timelines. The Senior Geotechnical Project Manager will play a key role in client communication, team coordination, and technical leadership to deliver successful outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead geotechnical projects throughout all phases, including proposal preparation, project planning, field investigations, laboratory testing, data analysis, and report writing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on project progress.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including engineers, technicians, and support staff, to allocate resources, delegate tasks, and ensure project milestones are achieved according to schedule and budget.
- Conduct thorough site investigations, including soil and rock sampling, geophysical surveys, and field testing, to assess subsurface conditions and identify potential geotechnical hazards.
- Analyze geotechnical data and provide engineering recommendations for site development, foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems, utilizing industry-standard software and methodologies.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, feasibility studies, and design documents that comply with regulatory requirements and client specifications.
- Review and approve subcontractor proposals, invoices, and deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and contractual agreements.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff members, fostering their professional development and contributing to the overall growth of the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Florida, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of employment.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on project management and site investigations.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex geotechnical projects within budget and schedule constraints.
- Strong technical proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design, including slope stability, shallow and deep foundation design, and ground improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as gINT, PLAXIS, Slide, and GeoStudio.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff members.
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and permitting processes in Florida.
