Job Title: Geo-Structural Engineer

Job Description:
A well-established design-build engineering and construction firm in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area is seeking a Geo-Structural Engineer. This role involves performing engineering (design drawings and computations) and construction management activities for specialty foundation applications such as support of excavation, underpinning, structural shoring, and deep foundation projects across diverse markets and project sizes.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of senior staff:
- Develop design drawings, geotechnical and structural computations, specifications, and technical memos for sheeting, shoring, underpinning, and deep foundation projects.
- Create overlays and sketches using AutoCAD for coordination and visual aids.
- Prepare budgets, estimates, proposals, and change orders.
- Procure materials, equipment, and services.
- Develop construction plans, conduct constructability reviews, and perform job cost studies.
- Prepare daily field reports and maintain communication with project team members using Procore.
- Conduct field surveying, material testing, tieback post-tensioning, and structural steel pre-loading.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (Master's degree in geotechnical or structural engineering preferred).
- Seniors graduating within a year may be considered for a part-time or full-time internship.
- Commitment to obtaining F.E. certification within 12 months and pursuing P.E. certification.
- Strong work ethic with a readiness to engage in fieldwork, including challenging weather and environments.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and an ethical team player.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic experience or internships in civil, geotechnical, structural engineering, or construction management.
- Familiarity with support of excavation, foundation design, and/or field surveying.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and geotechnical reports.
- Experience with AutoCAD and design software (e.g., GEO5, DEEPEX, RISA3D).
Compensation & Benefits:
- $28/hr. - $38/hr. (part-time/full-time).
