This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong technical background and operations expertise, combining project management, technical skills, financial acumen, and team leadership. You will lead a variety of projects involving environmental assessments, remediation, and regulatory compliance, working with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, health and safety specialists, and subcontractors.
As an Environmental Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading project teams in tasks such as work plan/proposal preparation, risk-based corrective action reports, regulatory interactions, SPCC & SWPPP preparation, and implementing corrective actions.
- Overseeing soil and groundwater site assessments, UST removals, excavation, health and safety compliance, and Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments.
- Managing project timelines, budgets, and ensuring quality control and compliance.
- Collaborating with clients and regulatory agencies to drive project success.
This is a full-time role with up to 15% travel required.
Location: This position is based in the Sacramento, CA area, with flexibility for remote work when assignments allow. While most work can be done remotely, periodic office visits for team meetings, mentorship, and collaboration are expected. Some travel for larger project kick-offs or emergency responses may be required.
Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- A degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental project management.
- Professional Geology certification is a plus or the ability to obtain licensure in California.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification required.
Desired Experience:
- Proven track record in managing environmental projects in consulting or related fields.
- Experience in environmental remediation, regulatory compliance, and due diligence.
- Experience with petroleum terminal, pipeline, railroad, chemical, and UST projects, including vapor intrusion and investigation/remediation.
- Experience with regulatory programs and negotiations for site closures.
- Strong experience managing subcontractors, including bid development, contracting, and field supervision.

Additional Requirements:
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (now or in the future).

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- The role may involve sedentary to light office work and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Field assignments may require medium to heavy physical work, exposure to various weather conditions, and safety hazards.
- Some assignments may require wearing protective equipment, such as respirators.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $105,000, depending on experience, education, and skills.
