Position Title: Engineering Manager
Department: APAC Region - Technical Service Department
Location: Sydney Australia
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development:
- Guide and manage teams including Solution Engineers, Data Analysis Engineers, and Senior Technical Support Engineers.
- Establish clear goals, assess team performance, and promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Identify skill gaps and implement professional development plans to enhance team capabilities.
Technical Strategy and Oversight:
- Formulate and execute technical strategies to meet customer needs, optimize product performance, and enhance service delivery.
- Serve as a technical authority, offering advanced guidance on complex engineering challenges and project requirements.
- Ensure technical solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.
Project and Resource Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Allocate resources effectively to balance team workloads and achieve project milestones.
- Monitor project progress, address roadblocks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Act as the primary liaison between the engineering team and other departments such as R&D, sales, and operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate customer feedback, enhance product designs, and resolve technical issues.
- Facilitate effective communication between domestic and regional teams to drive alignment and knowledge sharing.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize data analysis and insights provided by the Data Analysis Engineer team to identify trends, optimize processes, and drive strategic decisions.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of technical activities, metrics, and KPIs.
Customer-Centric Solutions:
- Deliver tailored technical solutions for clients, addressing high-priority concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Lead critical client escalations, ensuring swift and effective resolution of issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and innovation across the engineering function.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, energy, or related technical fields.
- Experience: Over 3 years in the electrical/renewable industry, with at least 1 year in a management role. Experience with PV/ESS is highly valued.
- Knowledge: Advanced technical knowledge in PV systems, energy storage solutions, data analysis, and technical support operations. Familiarity with Australian/international codes such as AS/NZS 3000:2018, AS/NZS 3008.1&2:2017, AS/NZS 4777.1&2:2024, IEC 62619, IEC 62477, IEC 62109, UL1973, UL 9540, etc.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient in project management, with the ability to prioritize and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) and familiarity with programming languages (Matlab, C/C++, Python, Java). Experience with Pvsyst, PSCAD, CAD Electrical, PSSE is highlighted.
- Other Requirements: Legal driver's license.
