Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will spearhead the design of electrical systems for a variety of commercial and K-12 educational projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage project timelines, and support the development of junior engineers while ensuring that all designs meet both client needs and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design & Development:
- Lead the design of electrical power, lighting, life safety, and security systems for commercial and K-12 educational projects.
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, and system specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Project Management:
- Oversee electrical engineering projects from initiation through to completion.
- Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and successful project outcomes.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and on-budget project delivery.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide expert guidance in the selection of electrical systems, including lighting, power, life safety, and security systems.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to verify design feasibility and code compliance.
- Perform load and lighting calculations, arc flash analysis, short-circuit studies, and other relevant engineering assessments.
- Specify and size backup power and auxiliary systems, such as fire alarms and access controls.
- Coordinate with consultants on CCTV and low voltage system designs.
Quality Assurance:
- Review and sign off on electrical engineering documentation and deliverables.
- Perform rigorous quality control checks to ensure all designs meet company standards and client expectations.
- Address and resolve technical challenges during the construction phase.
Mentorship & Leadership:
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Lead design review meetings and provide constructive feedback to the team.
Client Interaction:
- Communicate directly with clients to understand their needs and provide effective, technical solutions.
- Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through excellent communication and project management practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to various other tasks as assigned.
Supervision:
- Work under general direction, managing your own workload and using a broad range of procedures to meet project goals.
- Supervise and guide junior staff, determining work assignments, setting priorities, and ensuring quality and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on commercial and/or K-12 educational projects.
- Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Strong technical aptitude and innovative design skills.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in electrical design and lighting design software.
- Proficiency with Revit and a strong understanding of electrical codes and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong time management skills with an ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites within Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.
- Familiarity with advanced electrical technologies, such as smart grids, renewable energy, and energy storage.
- Background in client relationship management and business development.
