What The Role Entails
The Electrical Commissioning Manager will work closely with our construction team to ensure that data center projects meet LVI Associates' operational requirements with excellence. Key responsibilities include overseeing the design, installation, and testing of all components, materials, equipment, and systems. This individual will be responsible for the commissioning of mission-critical systems in our data centers, including generators, backup power supplies, and digital electrical distribution equipment. The Electrical Commissioning Manager plays a critical role in our continued success, ensuring all testing is executed and that data centers operate at maximum efficiency.
Please Note: This is an on-site role with required travel. Candidates must be located in the DC/MD/VA area for this opportunity.

What You Will Get to Do
- Monitor and manage data center project tasks, tracking budget, schedule, and scope of work.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client and internal team to document the basis of design and act as the main point of contact with the client during commissioning activities and project completion.
- Review and submit all written work to the client.
- Develop, review, and implement a commissioning plan covering construction requirements for building phasing.
- Lead the Pre-Construction commissioning process meeting.
- Attend construction progress and pre-installation job-site meetings to stay updated on construction progress.
- Review construction progress meeting minutes for revisions/substitutions related to the design intent and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Assist and review the commissioning schedule, commissioning process activities, and integrate these into the master project schedule, as prepared and maintained by the Owner's Representative.
- Conduct a thorough review of design documents at the end of the Construction Documents Phase and drive necessary design changes within the LVI Associates team.
- Assist in developing full commissioning specifications for all commissioned equipment.
- Inspect installations in the field, witness functional testing on-site, and conduct site visits as needed to document system installations.
- Coordinate with the primary IT liaison for control systems issues.
- Oversee the execution of commissioning tests to verify that equipment is installed correctly, functions properly, and operates safely without interruption.
- Develop and execute commissioning test procedures to verify the performance and functionality of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement engineering standards/best practices.
- Conduct readiness reviews of assigned projects to inform overall building acceptance.
- Validate and attend training for operations team personnel.
- Review the final third-party Commissioning Process Report.
- Travel to sites, client meetings, training courses, or conferences as required.
- Coordinate and assist in scheduling Factory Acceptance/Factory Witness tests, managing the development staff who attend.
What You Bring to The Role
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical commissioning, ideally in data center or critical facilities projects.
- General understanding of data center systems and electrical building systems.
- Familiarity with design requirements and local codes.
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes, such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ASHRAE.
- Strong business acumen.
- High attention to detail and critical judgment skills.
- Professional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of commissioning software and tools is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across several projects.
- Assertiveness to ensure processes are completed efficiently.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, and other departments.
- Willingness and ability to travel to work sites and handle on-call responsibilities in the event of an emergency.
