Join a regional, employee-owned (ESOP) civil consulting firm seeking a skilled Drainage Engineer to support its Transportation Group in Salt Lake City, UT. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful civil transportation projects, ensuring seamless execution from concept through final design while maintaining scope, budget, and schedule.
This role requires a strong technical background in hydrology and hydraulics, with opportunities to lead drainage design efforts on municipal, county, and state infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, self-motivated, and a strong communicator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hydrology and hydraulic analysis for transportation, flood control, and site development projects.
- Design drainage systems, including storm sewers, culverts, detention/water quality facilities, bridge deck drainage, river/bridge hydraulics, and roadside ditches.
- Oversee and coordinate design efforts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare plans and technical details using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, InRoads, or OpenRoads.
- Develop erosion control and stormwater management plans.
- Assist in specification development, technical reporting, and construction support.
- Act as a drainage technical liaison with clients when required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering is preferred
- Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience related to transportation drainage design.
- Proficiency in OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or InRoads for alignment, grading, and pipe design.
- Experience with Utah Department of Transportation projects
- Expertise in bridge scour revetment design is preferred
- Knowledge of 2D hydraulic modeling in SMS: SRH2D.
