About the Opportunity:
My client is seeking a Design Engineer II to join their team, bringing life to engineering designs through engaging and impactful projects. This role offers the unique chance to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across diverse markets, including healthcare, education, biotech, mission-critical facilities, commercial spaces, and entertainment. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to create practical, efficient, and cost-effective designs while leveraging cutting-edge tools like VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) and computational fluid dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex calculations, including heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, and friction loss assessments.
- Develop preliminary design layouts to support estimating efforts.
- Lead design efforts for specific project phases.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes and criteria.
- Conduct code reviews and examine field conditions to inform project designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
- PE License preferred but not required.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems design and operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and plumbing plans.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Expertise in CAD and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
