We are assisting our client in expanding their presence in the Taiwan market and are seeking a highly experienced Country Manager at the Associate Director level. This role will lead the local team and drive the execution of the Taiwan market strategy, assuming full P&L accountability. The successful candidate will oversee and manage all aspects of project companies and assets across different fuel types, including existing coal-fired assets, renewable energy project development, governance, operational performance, and joint venture management. The objective is to ensure safety, operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic market development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the annual business plan for Taiwan, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives and board directives.
Lead the execution and monitoring of all board resolutions and strategic initiatives.
Oversee asset performance to ensure compliance with all safety, security, health, environmental, and quality standards.
Manage and optimize the full scope of operations and asset management within the authorized framework.
Drive key stakeholder engagement strategies and ensure effective implementation in Taiwan.
Lead the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) extensions for existing coal-fired assets in collaboration with joint venture partners and develop a strategic exit plan post-extension.
Establish and implement key management processes, governance structures, and staffing decisions to support business growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of senior leadership experience in medium to large enterprises.
Strong understanding of business operations, industry regulations, and compliance standards.
Extensive experience in stakeholder management, with established relationships with regulatory authorities and key market players.
Strong ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.
Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and engage at the highest levels, including external counterparties.
Demonstrated project management and asset management expertise.
Strong commercial and technical acumen in power plant operations and management.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence senior executives.
Experience in crisis management, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation.
Proficiency in English; fluency in Mandarin or the local language is preferred.
