Building Automation Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Northern Virginia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning building automation systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency. This role requires a solid understanding of HVAC concepts, control theory, and building automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and implement building automation systems.
- Evaluate building systems to identify automation opportunities.
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of centralized heating, gas, water, and steam systems.
- Perform energy analysis to ensure optimal performance of building automation systems.
- Conduct system checks for preventive maintenance and system performance.
- Create and maintain documentation for all automation processes.
- Provide training to building staff on the operation of automated systems.
- Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and contractors in the design and implementation of automation systems.
- Monitor the performance of automated systems and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in building automation technology.
- Ensure all automation projects comply with safety regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source necessary equipment and software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in building automation systems.
- Proficiency in HVAC systems, control theory, and automatic temperature control.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and security systems.
- Experience with Tridium building automation systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CEM, PMP, HVAC) are a plus.
