Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Scheduler to join our team, specializing in transmission line projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to track progress, identify potential delays, and ensure that all project milestones are achieved. This position will require frequent travel to various project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development & Maintenance: Create and maintain detailed, accurate construction schedules for transmission line projects, including key milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying any delays or deviations. Provide regular updates to the project team and senior management on the status of the project schedule.
- Resource Management: Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure that all necessary resources (labor, equipment, materials) are available and scheduled accordingly to meet project timelines.
- Risk & Delay Management: Identify potential delays or risks that could impact the project schedule. Collaborate with project teams to develop mitigation plans and adjust the schedule as necessary.
- Schedule Reporting: Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports on schedule performance, including regular status updates, recovery plans, and forecasts. Communicate schedule-related issues to project stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with construction teams, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure alignment between field activities and the project schedule. Attend project meetings to provide schedule updates and assist in the coordination of efforts.
- Critical Path Analysis: Perform critical path method (CPM) analysis to identify the most crucial tasks that could impact the overall project timeline and ensure they are completed on time.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain all schedule-related documentation, including changes, revisions, and any supporting materials for project audits or client reporting.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in construction scheduling, preferably in transmission line or utility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with the construction process, specifically in transmission line projects, including overhead and underground systems.
- Proficiency in construction scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore).
Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, critical path analysis, and project management principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
- Ability to analyze and resolve schedule-related issues proactively.
Certifications: Project Scheduler Professional (PSP), or other relevant scheduling certifications are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with transmission line construction, substation, or utility-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of industry-standard construction processes, practices, and safety regulations.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) or other project performance tracking methods.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Travel: Extensive travel to project sites is required.
- Environment: The role involves both office-based work and on-site work, with exposure to construction environments, including high noise levels, heavy machinery, and safety hazards.
- Physical Requirements: The role involves sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and visit construction sites to assess schedules in the field.
