About the Role: My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Battery Storage Development Supervisor to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from inception to completion. You will play a crucial role in identifying suitable project sites, negotiating with landowners, obtaining necessary permits, and ensuring projects adhere to all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure suitable locations for battery storage project development.
- Conduct feasibility studies, including resource assessments, environmental impact analyses, and grid connection studies.
- Develop detailed project proposals, development plans, and schedules.
- Negotiate with landowners to secure land leases or purchases under favorable conditions.
- Engage with local communities and obtain consent from neighbors and local associations for project construction.
- Coordinate with local authorities to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Manage subcontractors for tasks such as topographic and boundary surveys, environmental impact assessments, and other necessary permits.
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimates and financial models.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the technical team to ensure the technical feasibility and successful implementation of battery storage projects.
- Bring projects to a "Ready to Build" status within the expected timeline.
- Stay updated on the latest battery storage technologies and industry trends to enhance project efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
- Business-level proficiency in English.
- At least 1 year of direct experience in developing BESS projects in Japan
- Familiarity with permitting processes, environmental assessments, grid interconnection, and METI processes.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent negotiation skills with local stakeholders.
