A Leading Solar EPC is about to break ground on 4 Utility Scale Projects in Upstate New York in the Rochester and Syracuse area. This organization has been around since 2010 and has primarily been focusing on C&I and DG Solar Projects. Although, they have decided to re-brand and exclusively focus on Utility Scale Solar projects of at least 30MW. They are looking for individuals who will be able to help them advance the company into the next chapter!
Having solar experience is NOT a must, but they would expect for you to have large scale electrical experience on projects end-to-end.
Position Summary: The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with the Project Operations and Field Management teams to build strong client relationships, support employee growth, and ensure the successful delivery of safe, high-quality, profitable, and timely renewable projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributes to team development by helping to recruit, interview, assess, mentor, and retain top talent.
- Assists in motivating and guiding team members to achieve project objectives, ensuring responsibilities are met and project milestones are reached.
- Enforces safety protocols and procedures, addressing any non-compliance by employees, subcontractors, or vendors.
- Implements the project in accordance with the Quality Management System, identifying and resolving potential issues that could lead to rework.
- Manages essential project tasks such as tracking construction progress, forecasting financials, document handling, problem-solving, resolving disputes, troubleshooting designs, and value engineering.
- Sets, communicates, and enforces production goals and timelines with subcontractors.
- Supports the creation of the project schedule with the Project Manager, ensuring alignment with the plan, and develops a four-week look ahead schedule to track daily progress, communicate goals, and allocate resources effectively.
- Assists in maintaining and adhering to the Four-Week Look Ahead schedule on a weekly basis.
- Works to ensure the project stays within budget by implementing strong cost-control measures over subcontractors, materials, equipment, and other expenditures.
- Assists the team with planning, surveying, blueprint interpretation, productivity, crew sizing, quality standards, and safety to ensure projects are completed efficiently and profitably.
- Participates in daily huddles to foster communication, resolve issues, and share ideas, ensuring the project is completed efficiently and profitably.
- Reviews Foreman's and Subcontractor's Daily Reports for accuracy, including hours worked, time coding, production quantities, and activity summaries.
- Understands the key terms of the Prime Contract with the Owner, identifying and addressing any deviations.
- Ensures subcontractors adhere to the operational details of their agreements and the company's standards.
- This role is field-based at project construction sites.
Qualifications:
- 1-3+ years of experience in the construction industry with increasing responsibilities.
- 1-3+ years of experience managing self-perform work with multiple crews (10+ craft workers and equipment operators). Experience as a Foreman is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Knowledge of various construction disciplines (electrical, earthwork, utilities, structures, mechanical, etc.).
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and scheduling software.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites within the United States every 3-12 months.
- High School diploma or GED required.
