Location: Massachusetts - In-Office Role
Company Overview:
A leading contractor in Massachusetts is looking for a full-time Assistant Project Manager to support and assist in the management of multiple electrical utility distribution, substation construction, and solar field construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will be involved in a variety of projects, ranging from under $1M to $25M, and will work closely with the Project Manager and other team members to help ensure the successful completion of each project.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of project construction from start to finish.
- Provide support to the project team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to the schedule.
- Participate in project planning, pre-design, and design meetings.
- Help conduct site inspections and assist in reviewing designs for compliance with codes and contract requirements.
- Assist in managing project submittals and approvals, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of documentation.
- Monitor project progress against established timelines and milestones, providing regular updates to the Project Manager.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and change orders.
- Assist in tracking project expenses and help ensure the project stays within the approved budget.
- Help coordinate the scheduling of tasks and resources to keep the project on track.
Required:
- At least three (3) years of experience in construction management or a related field.
- A 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint; experience with construction management software (e.g., Primavera) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with tracking and updating schedules, RFIs, submittals, and payment analysis.
- OSHA safety training is preferred.
- Experience in supporting large-scale construction projects, particularly in utility distribution, substation construction, or solar field projects is a plus.
