Join Our Team as a Structural/Bridge Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Structural/Bridge Engineer to join our team in Laurel, MD. This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the structural integrity and safety of transportation infrastructures. You will be at the forefront of performing structural analysis and design for various transportation structures, alongside bridge inspections and compliance duties.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and pipes.
- Prepare engineering calculations and develop design drawings.
- Conduct fieldwork including site visits and bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS standards.
- Conduct load ratings for bridges and culverts.
- Review drawings and reports to develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with AASHTO, MDOT SHA, and project-specific standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
- 4-7 years of relevant experience in steel and concrete design.
- Maryland EIT Certification with NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader Certification preferred.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD for bridge projects.
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD code requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This role is pivotal as we expand our project scopes following recent wins in several design projects. The successful candidate will be taking over inspection work from one of our senior Project Managers who is transitioning to focus more on design.
