Senior Transportation Engineer - Montana (Statewide)
Join a leading civil engineering firm seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to support statewide transportation projects across Montana. This position is open to candidates in any of our Montana offices and will focus on delivering high-quality transportation solutions for the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and federal highway projects.
Ideal candidates will have 15+ years of experience in civil transportation design, project management, and business development. This individual must be highly competent in civil transportation design, project management, mentoring, and business development. As the role expands, the Senior Transportation Engineer will build and lead a team, bringing on junior staff to execute task and design work on projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage MDT and federal highway projects from concept to completion.
Provide technical expertise in civil transportation design, roadway design, and highway infrastructure.
Oversee project management, budgets, schedules, and client coordination.
Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a strong technical team.
Drive business development efforts, including client engagement and proposal development.
Ensure projects comply with MDT, AASHTO, and federal design standards.
Build and grow a transportation team, hiring and guiding junior staff to execute task and design work.
Qualifications:
15+ years of transportation engineering experience, including MDT and federal highway projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Montana or ability to obtain.
Proven experience in transportation design, project management, and business development.
Expertise in software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Civil 3D.
Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
