About the Role

My client, an industry-leading MEP engineering and design firm, is seeking a Senior Electrical Team Leader to oversee a high-performing electrical engineering team, drive innovative design solutions, and contribute to cutting-edge commercial, institutional, and sustainable building projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to step into a leadership role with a firm known for technical excellence, sustainability, and a strong collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical engineering team in delivering high-quality MEP designs for commercial, educational, multi-family, and institutional projects.
  • Develop and oversee electrical system designs, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Provide mentorship, technical leadership, and quality control for junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and plumbing teams to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
  • Engage with clients, architects, and contractors to develop cost-effective, energy-efficient electrical solutions.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring compliance with NEC, local codes, and industry standards.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within the AEC industry.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, local building codes, and sustainable design best practices.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Excellent communication, client engagement, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LEED and Net Zero Energy projects.
  • Background in mission-critical, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Strong connections within the DC, Maryland, or Virginia engineering community.
