Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Estiamtor to support senior estimators in preparing cost estimates for bids and proposals related to electrical and low voltage systems. This role will involve assisting in gathering data, performing take-offs, and understanding project requirements to contribute to accurate and competitive bids. A foundational understanding of electrical systems, blueprints, and estimating practices is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in gathering data and preparing bid proposals, including design/build estimates.
- Perform take-offs from drawings and contribute to pricing change orders.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate project constructability.
- Review plans and specifications to identify required materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date information on prices from suppliers and contractors to support accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare bid packages and obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials, and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, contract documents, and addendums.
- Apply design techniques and principles for producing electrical plans and drawings.
- Set specific goals and plans to prioritize and accomplish work efficiently.
- Produce high-quality work and collaborate with team members to meet project goals.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering).
- 4+ years of experience with an Associate's Degree in a related field.
- 6+ years of experience with a high school diploma or GED.
Abilities:
- Ability to work with computer screens for extended periods.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to reach and extend hands or arms in any direction.
- Finger dexterity for using a keyboard and other tools.
- Effective communication skills to understand and convey information both verbally and in writing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply general rules to specific situations.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively with others.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Accubid software.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a plus.
